The World’s Largest Machine-Tool Builder
Yamazaki Mazak Corporation was established in 1919 in Nagoya, Japan as Yamazaki Machinery Works. To meet the postwar demand for machine tools, the company began repairing, rebuilding, and eventually manufacturing machine tools.
Now with eight manufacturing plants (four in Japan and one each in Singapore, China, the United Kingdom, and the United States, Yamazaki Mazak has grown to become the world’s largest machine-tool manufacturing company.
All Mazak plants employ the latest Mazak manufacturing technology to produce Mazak machine tools. Mazak innovations have greatly improved manufacturing processes in such industries as automotive, aerospace, energy services, heavy equipment, die and mould, and many others.
Powered by the Mazatrol Matrix CNC, Mazak’s award-winning 6th-generation CNC, Mazak provides more than 170 models of CNC turning centers, vertical and horizontal machining centers, multi-tasking 5-axis machining centers, and Palletech material-handling automation systems.
Closely working with local and regional manufacturers through its worldwide Technology Centre network, and supported by continual investment in R&D, Mazak is the world’s leading supplier of total manufacturing solutions.

Mazak North America Headquarters
Yamazaki Mazak Corporation exported its first engine lathe to North America in 1963 and established Mazak Corporation with a small office in Long Island, New York in 1968.
In 1974, Mazak moved its North American headquarters and built its manufacturing facility in Florence, Kentucky. Today, this complex includes three buildings on more than 60 acres. The Lean Manufacturing Factory produces more than 30 models of CNC turning centers and vertical machining centers. Over 14 expansion programs have transformed the Mazak plant into North America’s most advanced machine-tool manufacturing facility. Leading-edge Mazak multi-tasking machines, robotic cells, Palletech flexible manufacturing systems, and temperature-controlled high-precision machining environments deliver new levels of quality and throughput improvement. All this is accomplished under Production on Demand, Mazak’s lean, pull-through manufacturing system, featuring modular assembly and other innovations to keep overall lead time as short as possible.
Also located at the Mazak North American headquarters complex is the National Technology Centre, which doubled in size in 2006 to 21,031 square meters. This expansion included the new Centre for Multi-Tasking and Manufacturing Excellence with a 203-seat auditorium for Mazak technical seminars, workshops, and special events, including those of local, national, and international organizations.
The third major facility on the North America Headquarters campus is the National Customer Service and Support Centre, providing in-depth customer training programs, hands-on maintenance seminars, Mazatrol CNC support, and Mazak’s comprehensive repair/rebuild operation, where spindles, turrets, headstocks, and other vital components are restored to factory specifications.
It is also home to Mazak’s North America Parts Centre and Call Centre. With a new $3 million automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS), Mazak can efficiently locate and manage more than $52 million in spare parts inventory and ship more than 97% of spare parts requests the same day we receive the order.
The National Customer Support Centre also maintains a database detailing every Mazak machine ever built or delivered to North America. This database is available to more than 250 factory-trained service technicians in the field for immediate access to parts drawings and other machine details and also to Mazak’s Technology Centre network in Chicago, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Houston, Hartford, and Monterrey, Mexico.
